Welcome! I’m Carol Matsuyama, an award-winning artist based in Port Perry, Ontario. My work is rooted in a love of colour, character, and the beauty found in everyday things. Best known for my realistic still life paintings, I also enjoy exploring other subjects and media as my artistic interests evolve.

 I love the control that still life gives me—the ability to choose every object, colour, shadow, and detail and bring them together in a way that feels distinctly my own.

 While my work is rooted in the tradition of still life, I enjoy pushing beyond the traditional. Saturated colour, dramatic arrangements, meticulous detail, and large-scale canvases give my paintings a contemporary feel and a strong visual presence.
